Here are some MeshCore radios that we’ve had experience with:
Companion Radios
Seeed Studio T1000-E
A credit-card sized radio. It’s water resistant, has several days of battery life, and decent performance.
Pros:
- Fits in a pocket, or can be attached to a backpack or other equipment.
- Good battery life
- Water resistant
Cons:
- Minimal user interface - has one button, and a buzzer.
- Must be used with the phone or web app.
Where to buy:
Seeed Studio Wio Tracker L1 Pro
About the size of a pack of cards. Excellent performance for the size.
Pros:
- Great battery life
- OLED display to see the status of the device at a glance
- Can (nominally) be used stand-alone, with firmware from RippleRadios
Cons:
- Fairly cheezy 3D-Printed case
- Not weather-resistant
Where to buy:
Repeaters
Seeed Studio Solar Node P1-Pro (and non-pro)
A simple, solar-powered repeater for MeshCore. As close to plug-and-play as it gets.
The Pro differs from the non-pro version in that it includes the GPS chip, which you probably don’t care about, and it includes the Li-Ion batteries. If you’re happy to buy your own batteries, you can save a few bucks that way.
Pros:
- Simple setup
- All in one case design should be reasonably weather-resistant.
Cons:
- Included antenna is not the best. Totally adequate if you’re just trying to cover your immediate neighborhood, though.
